Geologically, green opal deposits from Madagascar are a fairly recent geological discovery. Its gorgeous green and brown patterns are often broken by translucent veins of white opal. This stone has an odd quality: due to its higher than normal water content it feels lighter in the hand than another stone of a similar size.
